Cheap Date Night Ideas!

Hey guys, gals,and everyone else!

Living on minimum wage while in college (or beyond) can be tough! What’s even tougher is going on dates when your sweeties is just as….financially challenged as you are! With a little creativity, and a few compromises you can have wonderful date nights! And don’t worry…none of the ideas will be Chipotle and a movie…because that’s what Alexander suggested for this article. I do love him!

person-couple-love-romanticThere are a couple affiliate links sprinkled in here, but I 100% recommend everything!

Make your own ice cream! You get to make a sweet treat, burn a few calories, and warm eachothers hands up afterwards. This 3 ingredient ice cream recipe is super simple and cheap.Way better than going to a store. You can find an ice cream maker here!

Watch Netflix….but project onto a white wall or sheet. Bonus points if you make a fort.

Go for a hike! Or any workout really…if you live together you can take a nice shower together afterwards too!

Go volunteer! I mean, what’s cuter than seeing your significant other snuggle up with some puppies at the humane society?! Plus it looks good on a Grad School application or Resume!

Have a game night! My roommates LOVE games….like a little too much. Get a chalkboard or white board and go to town with Pictionary. Caution: things may get intense!

Have a photoshoot! With a camera timer and some props you can make adorable photos. The great part is- you can theme this whatever you want? Aliens? K cool. Sexy time? MMMMM okay. Baking a cake? That’s probably a better idea.

Scrapbook together. Now, honestly, this is only cheap if you already have the supplies. But it will be adorable to look back at the book you guys made together years from now!

Make YouTube videos! Did you know you can make money from YouTube? Head on over, make an account, and try out some of the ‘couple tags’! Who knows….maybe your obvious chemistry will earn you a couple bucks!

Go on a scavenger hunt! There are lots of lists on the internet you can borrow. You can team up with another couple and race to complete it! The losers have to admit defeat on SnapChat!

Go geocaching! What’s that you ask? Basically a treasure hunt. Go online and find a local website. They’ll have sites listed near you. You bring a small trinket and when you find the booty you get to exchange your trinket for one in the treasure!

Do your own ‘paint and drink nite’. These booze filled creative fests are all the rage. Invite some other couples over and bust out some Walmart paint. You can have aΒ  artistic member of the crew be the leader, or you can use a video from off line! Have everyone bring a six pack or a bottle and you’re on your way to great art!

Get your Groupon on! There are tons of date ideas that sound great..but are expensive. All day paintballing anyone? BUT with a groupon account you can score up to 90% discounts! I highly recommend checking it out, it helps a lot around the holidays!

Have a spa night! Did you know that your local Dollar Tree has a ton of spa/bubblebath products? Grab a handful and squeeze into a tub with your honey. Have fun blowing bubbles at eachother and making bubble beards!

Go to a playground! Go to a playground (at a public park) and just goof off! Reliving some childhood memories is a great way to bond with a new partner!

I’m very excited to try these ideas with Alexander. Hopefully his love for me will outweigh his love for Chipotle! If you guys use any of these ideas let me know!

Stay Sunny ❀

I want to try this geocaching thing! It sounds like such a fun thing to do with the family actually. I’m pretty sure my husband and I have never played pictionary together – but that could get interesting!

I know a lot of people go geocaching with the family! In my area the websites list how hard each thing is to find so you can pick an easier one to do with kids!

Geocaching is so much fun. I grew up doing it, my family did it all over the country and we logged something like six hundred caches across the country all said and done. Best advice for trying this, 1. always bring extra batteries for the GPS (nothing like being a half mile away from the end of ten mile mountain hike to realize you have two minutes of battery left.) 2. Always bring a flash light, caches are frequently hidden in holes on trees or cracks between rocks, it’s nice to be able to see what you’re sticking your hand into… 3. Be aware of the sometimes VERY literal cache names, did one called Thorn in the Flesh once… ouch.

Okay this is SUPER CUTE. I set my alarm on my phone for an hour before my fiance gets off work tomorrow so that I can have plenty of time to set up a blanket fort before he’s home! I’m gonna surprise him. He’s gonna love it! (I’m also going to write: “The floor is lava.” on a piece of paper and watch him jump from chair to bench to countertop all the way to the fort. Thank you for the creative ideas! I also wrote down the spa idea. πŸ™‚

We actually spent time playing at the park recently like two little kids! My favorite idea you nailed is the geocaching as we have been doing this for years now. Everywhere we go we try to squeeze in at least one *find*!

Our date night lately has been qdoba then a bottle of liquor and youtube vids. Because adult-ing requires liquor far more often than college ever did. Haha we still have tons of fun though.

Great ideas!! Lately our date nights consist of getting into bed around 8 and finding something on tv and asleep before 9 – it’s crazy how tired we are these days compared to college.

These are great ideas for inexpensive fun! Love the “DIY paint night” – those can be so expensive, and all you really need are a canvas (or just paper) and some wine or beer. Groupon always has great deals. And we love to go out for ice cream – it would be fun to make it instead!

Back when I was in college, I remember digging in the couch cushions trying to find coins to go get an ice cream with my honey. πŸ™‚ These are all great, practical ideas. Love um!

This is such a great list! What I love, is most of these we can do after our kiddos go to bed. It’s definitely difficult to have a date night now that we have two under two, so I’m always looking for creative ideas. Thank you for sharing!

Super cute ideas. Being wined and dined is nice but you don’t have to empty your wallet to have a nice date. Best Valentine’s date I’ve ever had? Pirates of the Carribean marathon, he made my favorite dish and I made his favorite brownies. ❀

Like other commenters, I’m grinning at the idea of my man scrapbooking. Or having a “spa night”, for that matter. However, they’re good ideas and for the right couple, scrapbooking could probably be a great evening together. πŸ™‚

I like all of these ideas and I think they sound just as fun as an expensive dinner and movie. I really like the idea of making ice cream and watching Netflix as that would make for a nice relaxing night in.

Great ideas. Before we got married I planned 52 dates for our first year of marriage. Most were themed stuff together. We had so much fun.
It’s s lot tougher to have complicated dates now with 2 wee ones. But we still have fun.
