Hey guys, gals and everyone else!
Planners are a huge trend that is growing by the day. There are so many ways to personalize this organization system and make it your own. The only problem is that after paying $50-75 for an Erin Condren Life Planner, or $100+ for a ring binder system like Filofax, or KikkiK, supplies can add up fast. BUT there are a few sneaky ways that you can save money on cute supplies, and still end up with Instagram worthy weekly spreads!
*Dollar stores and Target Dollar Spot! The Target dollar spot has a cult following, and for good reason. If you’re lucky enough to live near a fully stocked store, you can nab sticky notes, pens, pencils, stickers and so much more for either $1 or $3! The dollar spot is usually near the front of the store, but don’t forget to check end caps for clearance items! Dollar stores ( I like Dollar Tree the most) are gaining popularity as well. I know some Dollar Trees have recently started stocking seasonal washi that is adorable! If you don’t mind visiting a couple stores to hunt it down, it really is cute…and only $1!
Look at the variety that’s available!
*Washi Samples on Etsy! Washi samples are basically when someone sells 1-3 yard sections of a full roll of washi tape. Tons of Etsy sellers cut down their personal tape stash this way. It’s a great way to get lots of patterns for a lot less money. Sometimes they will sell samples in the exact length of an Erin Condren box, so make sure you’re getting the type of sample you like before ordering! These are a couple of samples I thought were cute! One. Two. Three.
*Michaels sticker books! I love Michaels sticker books because you get a ton of cute stickers for just $1! I’ve also heard that Joannes sometimes carries these as well. You can get anywhere from 200-700 stickers per book! They’re seasonal so you’re always sure to have cute accents on your current spreads. In fact-there’s so many stickers I always share mine with Melissa at blissandbirds!
*Printing your own stickers! Etsy stickers are adorable, but they often add up in prices. You can purchase “printable” stickers off Etsy for much cheaper, however! You receive a file for the stickers, and then you can either print them at home, or take them to your local printing area. You save on sticker price AND shipping. Two savings in one! Also, as long as you’re only using images for personal use-AND you give credit on social media to artists, you can turn any image into a sticker. Just print it on printer paper, or cut it out and run it through a machine like this Xyron one. It can take any regular printer paper image and make it sticky!
As you can see there are a many ways to make joining the planner community a lot cheaper! You can even skip the expensive planner to begin with and use a Target or Walmart one! That’s what I did for my first 2 years at University! I talk about it in this post.
